Jana Pfefferova has had her abstract accepted for the 2016 NZ Esri User Conference. Jana’s abstract focusses on the use of GIS to enable the social and economic aspects of public transport to be better understood to make optimal network planning decisions. We congratulate Jana for this achievement. The NZ Esri User conference is the largest GIS event of the year in New Zealand and showcases the latest technology and trends from Eagle Technology and Esri experts. Abstracts Accepted for Kiwi Pycon 2016

Hamish Kingsbury and Neal Johnston from interpret have had their abstract accepted for the Kiwi Pycon Conference to be held in Dunedin in September later this year. This is an annual conference aimed at promoting and educating people about the Python programming language. Their abstract explores how Python is used in GIS Software from simple string manipulations and field calculations to more advanced spatial analysis. We congratulate Hamish and Neal on this achievement.

Hamish Wins 3M Award at the IPENZ Transportation Group Conference

Hamish has been awarded the 3M Traffic Safety Young Professional Award and the Best Young Professional Award at the recent 2016 IPENZ (Institution of Professional Engineers NZ) Transportation Group Conference in Auckland. These awards are for the work Hamish has performed on investigating how road safety metrics can be incorporated into vehicle routing networks. It’s great to see GIS being recognised in the engineering domain and it shows how versatile GIS can be.

The 2016 Regional ESRI User Conferences are scheduled for March/April this year. Check out the NZEUG web page here for dates and further information. These User Conferences are great for catching up and meeting other GIS professionals in your region. There will be a range of presentations including demonstrations of the latest ESRI apps and a heads up on upcoming improvements to existing ESRI software. These events are free to attend and are a great way to stay connected until the 2016 NZ ESRI User conference in Auckland.

Three abstracts submitted to the 2015 NZ Esri User Conference by Interpret staff have been accepted. Dale Harris will present on 'Caution curves ahead! Modelling vehicle speed and road curvature with GIS'.  Helen Roulston will present on 'Smarter Water Allocation in Northland'. Jana Pfefferova will present on 'Fulton Hogan's Mobile App: Mobilising a Remote Workforce'. The conference is being held in Auckland from 24 - 26 August.
