Turn your research into practice!

We are looking for an upcoming or recently graduated PhD/Masters students with experience in GIS (plus computer science would be a bonus, but not essential)

Interpret Geospatial Solutions is a specialist GIS consultants who do a wide range of work for clients from small businesses and charities to large government bodies, primarily in New Zealand but with an expanding international market. Interpret is the specialist GIS services arm of Abley Transportation Consultants. With offices in Auckland and Christchurch, Abley and Interpret have a rapidly expanding team of engineers, geographers and IT specialists.

We have a number of exciting projects on the horizon, and are looking to engage a recent graduate to get started on an R&D career with a Callaghan Innovation R&D Career Grant.  This role will give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience to developing technical solutions.

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must:

  • Be about to complete, or have recently completed, a Masters or PhD degree in science, technology, engineering, design or business ie have submitted a thesis for marking (or completed course requirement for Taught Masters) less than 12 months ago
  • Have undertaken the study at a New Zealand tertiary institution if you are not a New Zealand citizen
  • Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand
  • Not have been employed in the industry under a professional arrangement related to your area of study except temporary, part-time or at a tertiary organisation
  • Not have been previously employed at the business – unless this was short-term employment (eg over the summer break).

This role is for a six-month fixed contract.
