Hamish Kingsbury wins 2015 NZ Esri Young Scholar Award

It is with great pleasure that we congratulate Hamish Kingsbury on winning the 2015 NZ Esri Young Scholar Award. Hamish's efforts as an intern at Abley over the last four months has given him the opportunity to showcase his learnings in a submission for this award.  As the winner of this award, Hamish will attend the 2015 Esri Education GIS Conference and the 2015 Esri International User Conference in San Diego, in July.

Hamish’s submission outlined the project he has been working on entitled Examining the Feasibility of using Road Safety Data as a Factor in Routing. His project utilised the ArcGIS platform to create a dedicated web application to determine if routing using safety is a viable option. The judges commented on how impressed they were with the innovation of this project, stating it could have huge benefits in terms of improving communication and decision making.  They were also impressed with the comprehensive use of numerous applications within the ArcGIS Platform and the development of a website which brought the whole project to life.

Hamish presented his findings in a poster format and this can be viewed here.
