What Anna had to say:
What made you decide to become a financial administrator?
Many years before I joined Interpret I was a primary school teacher, having done a B.A in Sociology and Education and completing a Diploma of Teaching. But after staying home with my children for several years I decided to retrain and so I became an adult student. I completed a B.Com and became first an auditor and then a senior accountant in a Chartered Accounting firm. Although I enjoyed the children, for me numbers are easier to manage!
What did you do before joining Interpret?
In my ‘second’ career I worked for a specialist accounting firm before joining Abley Transportation Consultants which has now transitioned to Interpret.
What’s the most challenging thing about your job?
I enjoy the detail of keeping the accounting side of the business under control and having the autonomy to do it my way. With a growing staff it can be a challenge to keep up with the expanding needs of the business.
What’s been your career highlight so far?
My career highlight was undertaking a career change after having my family. It took a lot of courage to go down this route, but one I have never regretted.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time there is nothing more satisfying than having a dig around in my garden or getting out on my bike. We have quite a large garden but if there is a toss-up between biking or gardening, the garden usually wins. I also enjoy reading, art, walking, my family and a good old fashioned oaky Chardonnay.
